THE ME I'LL GROW TO BE
Dear Mom and Dad,
Thanks for signing me up to play ball. I love that you want me to give it my all.
Playing with friends and learning the game, coming together as we become one.
During this journey please let me be free, to run and throw and fall on my knees.
Making mistakes is how I will get better, today, tomorrow, and forever.
Sometimes its easy, sometimes its hard, sometimes I’ll win and sometimes I’ll fall.
Trial and error may make me pout, but that’s not what I should be thinking about.
Having good thoughts, knowing I can, is the best way to accomplish my plans.
I must practice hard to earn my way with a good attitude day after day.
Having an image of what I can be, is how I will make it happen for me.
I am the one who will play all out with focus, confidence, and happy shouts.
The more I try, the better I’ll become, if I want to play that’s how its done.
I want to learn to rely on myself, so when I get older l can handle tough stuff.
During our games let my coach be the one, to tell our team how it gets done.
As the games go on, know the ref does care, about making sure we all play fair.
My teammates and coaches will count on me, to do my job when called upon.
My team plays better when we believe, I want you too to trust in me.
We love to hear your cheers for us, it helps us play with more confidence.
At times I’ll be great, at times not so good, but either way I’ll work hard to be better still.
If its to be, its up to me.
It’s not about me being better than the rest, it’s about the team becoming our best.
MVP is not important to me, its really more fun when me is we.
Be happy for me when I do good, but I need hugs when I feel blue.
Be proud of me for how I’ll grow, while learning things on my own.
Whether I play or cheer, be there for me, the best part is you loving me.
I love you more than you will know, for letting me be the one to grow.
From,
The me I’ll grow to be.
